Study Finds No IBD Risk With Acne Medication Isotretinoin

February 25, 2013

HealthDay (2/21, Preidt) reports that a study published in JAMA Dermatology "counters the notion that the prescription acne drug Accutane [isotretinoin] raises the risk of Crohn's disease or colitis in women." In fact, "the study of more than 45,000 women found no such link between Accutane...use and these illnesses, which are collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)."
