Important News about GI Buddy

As of September 7, 2018, the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation is no longer supporting the GI Buddy app. This includes both the mobile and desktop versions.

Below, you will find:

  • Instructions for accessing and saving your GI Buddy data/history
  • Instructions for removing the app from your mobile device
  • Other disease management resources

Accessing and saving data

While the app may remain on your devices, the Foundation will not guarantee information provided is accurate. Any information that you have entered and stored in the app should be manually removed (see below for instructions). If it is not removed by September 7, 2018 all information will be removed from our database safely and securely.

To access your GI Buddy Data/History:

  • Log in to GI Buddy
  • Click Reports
  • Click Collective
  • Select date range
  • Click View Reports
  • Send reports to your email address (Scroll to the bottom and click Email to send your report to the email address you registered with)
  • Make sure you have received your reports before removing the app

How to remove GI Buddy from your mobile device

To remove GI Buddy from your iOS Device/Phone:

  1. On your iOS device, touch and hold the app lightly until it jiggles. If the app doesn't jiggle, make sure that you're not pressing too hard.
  2. Tap Remove on the app, then tap Remove.
  3. Press the Home button to finish.
  4. If you have an Apple Watch, removing an app from your iPhone also removes that app from your Apple Watch.

To remove GI Buddy App from your Android Device/Phone:

  1. Open your device's Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps & Notifications and then App Info.
  3. Tap the app you want to uninstall. You may need to scroll to find the app.
  4. Tap Uninstall.

How to recover your password

  1. Enter registered email address on the password recovery page.
  2. Follow instructions provided in the password recovery email to reset your password.

How to recover your username

  1. Enter registered email address on the password recovery page.
  2. The username will be provided in the password recovery email.

Recovery email not received

  1. Check your Spam folder.
  2. Make sure you entered the email address you used to register your GI Buddy profile.
  3. Resubmit email on password recovery page.

Report not received via email

  1. Check Spam folder.
  2. Check your GI Buddy profile and confirm/update your email address.
  3. Resubmit report request.

Other disease management resources

A mobile app that you may find helpful is My IBD Manager from the American Gastroenterological Association.

In addition, check out the numerous symptom, diet, and fitness trackers available in your mobile device's apps store. Many of these apps have the option to add notes alongside entries which can help track and manage your symptoms or triggers.

Last but not least, you can always go offline and track various aspects of your disease in a daily journal or tracker. Here are some trackers from the Foundation:
