Patient Financial Assistance Programs

Many companies and organizations provide assistance to patients who need financial support to pay for IBD medications, treatments, and services. Please note - eligibility varies from program to program so please check the guidelines carefully.

 

How to use This Tool

You can search by keyword or by category to help refine your search. Categories include:

  • Academic Scholarships: Organizations and companies offering academic scholarship money to individuals diagnosed with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.
  • Advocacy Organizations: Organizations offering assistance with disability, the appeal process, and general healthcare concerns.
  • Camp Scholarships: Organizations offering camp scholarship money for individuals with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis to attend summer camp programs.
  • Copay Card Programs (for patients with commercial insurance only): Copay Assistance often comes in the form of a qualifying award granted from the manufacturer of their medicine. This award helps offset out of pocket costs for high deductibles and copays. Patients apply for copay assistance and if they qualify, the drug manufacturer provides the patient with a fixed amount of assistance for the year.
  • Covid19 Resources: Due to the covid19 pandemic many IBD patients are facing hardships maintaining insurance and paying for medical and non medical expenses. Private companies and non profit foundations are offering grant and assistance programs for patients and families who have been impacted by the virus.
  • Medical Supply/Ostomy Assistance Programs: There are programs/resources that may be of assistance to you if you are in need of medical supplies or ostomy supplies on a temporary basis.
  • Non-Profit Organizations with Patient Assistance Programs: Many non-profit organizations provide detailed information on healthcare resources as well as possible financial assistance opportunities.
  • Pharmaceutical Financial Aid Assistance Programs (for patients with NO insurance or who are underinsured): Many pharmaceutical companies may offer financial aid for prescribed medication through financial aid assistance programs. Eligibility may be based on insurance coverage, household income, and out-of-pocket medical expenses.
  • Testing/Lab Assistance Programs: Companies may offer financial aid for tests and labs that may not be covered by insurance.

180 Medical Scholarship

Category: Academic Scholarships
The 180 Medical Scholarship Program is open to full-time college students living with specific medical conditions including an ostomy.  A $1,000 college scholarship is awarded annually to seven recipients.

AAHD Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability

Category: Academic Scholarships
The AAHD Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability is awarded annually to deserving students with a disability who are pursuing undergraduate/graduate studies in an accredited university and who are pursuing studies related to the health and disability, to include, but not limited to public health, health promotion, disability studies, disability research, rehabilitation engineering, audiology, disability policy, special education and majors that will impact quality of life of persons with disabilities. Scholarships are generally for $1,000.

Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. Disability Scholarship Program

The Disability Scholarship was established in 2014 as part of the law firm's commitment to helping students with disabilities or injuries who are in need of financial assistance for educational purposes. The scholarship will award $1,000 to one student.

Defining the Disability Scholarship

The attorneys at the Berkowitz Hanna Malpractice and Injury Lawyers offer a $1,000 scholarship to help a student overcome a disability. Students will define what disability means to you and explain how disability has been part of your life.

Ethical Factor Rx Scholarship

Ethical Factor Rx is available to students with an eligible diagnosis including Crohn's disease. Applicants in a variety of fields of study and career paths are accepted, however preference will usually be given to applicants with a trajectory in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) related studies.

Google Lime Scholarship

Google has partnered with Lime Connect to help university students with disabilities work toward their academic goals in the field of computer science. Selected students will receive $10,000 for those studying in the US.

Lawrence Madeiros Scholarship

Category: Academic Scholarships
The Larence Madeiros Scholarship Fund was formed to provide awareness of chronic disorders to the public and to stimulate, foster, and encourage interest, awareness and activism at the state and national level with reference to the fight against chronic disorders. Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors living with a chronic disorder and continuing their education at a college or university.

Microsoft Disability Scholarship

Category: Academic Scholarships
This scholarship will be awarded to promising high school seniors with disabilities who plan to attend a vocational or academic college and aspire to have a career in the technology industry. The scholarships are renewable – each winner who continues to meet the criteria is eligible to receive an annual award of $5,000 for up to four (4) consecutive years for a potential total $20,000 scholarship.
