Moving Up and Moving On!

BOSTON, MA, March 8, 2021. Jeff Mittleman, former board president of the New England Chapter, has joined the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s National Board of Trustees this month.  For the past four years, Jeff has served as the Board President for the New England Chapter.  In that role, he helped the chapter raise $2-3 million annually to fund breakthrough research projects and support for critical patient programs.  Jeff is a partner at Holland & Knight, LLP. He is co-leader of the firm's Healthcare & Life Sciences Industry Group and a member of the Compliance Services Team and practices in the areas of health, regulatory and corporate law. He also holds various leadership positions within the firm, including serving on the firm's Directors Committee. From 2007-2017, he served as the Boston office Public & Charitable Services Partner and from 2009-2017, he served as the co-chair of the Boston office's Diversity Committee. Jeff has had Crohn’s disease since 1987, but his involvement increased when his daughter Micaela was diagnosed at age 5. Jeff has been involved in all Chapter events and programs and co-chaired the Fete for Crohn’s & Colitis in 2018 and 2020, the Foundation’s second-largest fundraising event in the country. He resides in Chestnut Hill with his wife, Pam, and their three children.

Enhancing our already strong New England Chapter, Elizabeth Orgel has been appointed as the new Board President of the New England Chapter Board of Directors.  In this role, Elizabeth will oversee the 19-person board comprised of community leaders, including IBD patients, caregivers, and Chapter Medical Advisory Committee members. She will continue to oversee the growth of the board, chapter, and volunteer community. Elizabeth became involved in 2009 after her youngest son Aaron was diagnosed at age six. In 2013, her oldest son Andrew was diagnosed, making the Foundation’s mission all the more important to their family. She joined the Chapter Board in 2016 and has served on the Greater Boston Take Steps Executive Council and the Fete for Crohn’s & Colitis, co-chairing the gala in 2019 and 2020.
