Study Description

This study will examine how diet influences intestinal inflammation, symptoms, quality of life, and biological markers in Crohn's disease. Participation will last 9 weeks with 4 clinic visits and 2 video visits. Visits will include diet assessment, diet counseling, surveys, blood tests, and stool collection.

Description of Treatment or Intervention (Mechanism of Action)

Nutrients and diet have strong influence on digestive diseases through interactions with gut immunity and the microbiome. This study will strive to better understand how diet affects and could help Crohn's disease.

Patient Participation Requirements

Your participation will last 9 weeks with 4 clinic visits and 2 video teleconference
visits. The first visit is a screening visit to ensure you are eligible for the study.
Visits include blood tests, stool collection, body weight, surveys, and
diet assessment and diet counseling. This is a randomized study,
where you will be assigned to one of two groups. You will have a 1 in
2 chance of being assigned to one of two varying diets.

Possible Risks and Side Effects

The participant may experience discomfort from making changes to the diet, inconvenience of visits or questionnaires, unpleasant smell from stool collection, and slight bruising or pain from blood draws.
