Summer 2020 Camp Oasis Update!

We hope this message finds you safe, healthy, and well. It’s such an interesting time for everyone – please know our Foundation staff and camp volunteers are thinking of you!

We will miss the opportunity to host onsite camp sessions this summer. However, we’ve put a lot of thought and action into bringing fun virtual camp activities to you during our camp week and throughout the summer. This program is being offered free of charge to everyone. Anyone that completes an application will be registered for Virtual Camp Oasis.  Please read on to learn more!

Even though your family has not registered for the 2020 camp season yet, you are still eligible for our virtual camp program! All kids and teens, entering grades 2 – 12 in the fall of 2020, with a diagnosis of Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, or indeterminate IBD are welcome to register for our virtual camp series. Please CLICK HERE to complete our brief online registration.

Our summer camp series will include:

  • A packet of Camp Oasis swag and materials, sent directly to your camper via U.S. Mail in early June – this packet will include a “Parent & Camper Guide” which will outline camp activities and steps to ensure a safe and fun experience for your camper
  • Group activities which will be facilitated online on a variety of platforms – all hosted by Foundation staff and trained, experienced Camp Oasis volunteers
  • Interactive social sessions via our new Camp Oasis Instagram page
  • A custom program for those eligible for our Leaders in Training (LIT) program
  • A pen pal program for those interested in connecting with campers across the country
  • Local activities we will be planning especially for each camp location

The program will leverage medical volunteers and counselors from our local camp community, who have applied and been screened as in past years. We hope your camper will be excited to see familiar faces – both other campers and volunteers! This program is free of charge to families; we simply want to keep our campers engaged and connected in this unique year for everyone. We cannot wait to resume onsite summer camp programming as soon as it is safe to do so!

A few other opportunities:

  • Follow us on Instagram! Search for “camp_oasis_ibd.” We’ll be using this platform for some of our online camp programming. Feel free to follow as a parent or family, especially if your child is not on Instagram, to access photos, videos, and other activities!
  • We realize our campers may miss out on the opportunity to receive a 2020 Camp Oasis t-shirt, which will not be part of our mailed camp kits. Instead, we would like to offer families a one-time opportunity to order a custom made, one-of-a-kind Camp Oasis hoodie! CLICK HERE to order directly from our vendor. The hoodie will be available to order through the month of May. We would LOVE to see photos of our campers in this awesome hoodie!

2020 is teaching us to try new things, which is one of our Camp Oasis goals each year. We look forward to creating new ways to stay connected with our campers, and to support them, which will endure beyond this year and allow us to grow as a camp community.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions – very excited to welcome your camper to this summer camp season!
