The Stanford Semen in IBD Men on Biologics and Advanced Therapies (SIMBA) Study
To understand important effects of inflammatory bowel disease and its treatments on male reproductive health and fertility
Inclusion: Male aged 18-50 with IBD
Exclusion: Prior vasectomy, active testosterone or methotrexate usage
Study description/explanation of participation:
Our study is exploring important questions of male reproductive health in people with ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, including the effects of IBD medications on fertility. Participation is straightforward: all men complete an online questionnaire, submit a blood/stool sample, and submit a semen sample at our Stanford fertility center in Sunnyvale. For participants starting a new therapy for IBD, we would also like to collect follow-up semen samples three months after starting the therapy; all results will be shared with participants.
