Volunteer Week 2021- Meet Emily Seibert

Today, we’re highlighting some of our Georgia Support Group facilitators!

Emily Seibert was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when she was 11 years old, and she uses her own diagnosis to help other patients like her. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Emily knows how important the connection between mental and physical health is, and she knows it should not be overlooked.

In her two years volunteering with the Georgia Chapter, Emily has worked as a Camp Oasis volunteer, and she now co-leads our teen support group. Her work has been inspiring to her; Emily loves to see how much her fellow patients support one another as a community, but she wants to make sure that we continue to grow awareness of IBD in the community, and push for medical advancements.

For Emily, a future free of IBD means less stress and anxiety over the unpredictable nature of the diseases, and personally, she would like to have more energy and less fatigue!

As a bucket list item, Emily would like to hike the National parks of the Western US, and if she could, her dream historical figure to meet is Jane Austen.

Thank you for all you do for the Georgia Chapter, Emily! Patients and supports like you are the reason we know we will reach a future free of IBD!
