What's Next For Our Chapter?

Uniting to care & cure

Diagnosed at 12-years-old, Katie has defied the challenges of her Crohn's disease with the help of her family, friends, & doctors. She has been a strong advocate for herself & others battling with IBD, & looks to continue that as she takes on her role as our first Legacy Gala Honoree this year.

Although she continues to struggle with her symptoms, she doesn't let that deter her from striving both personally & professionally. She is a well-established marketing professional as the Founder of Elevate Online, Co-Founder of LEAP, & an instructor at Purdue University. She has been heavily involved in the Foundation's mission through advocacy, event committees, and most recently became a member of our Chapter Board.

Close to 4,000 people in the Crohn’s and colitis community sent letters to UnitedHealthcare's CEO to urge him to stop harmful prior authorization requirements for colonoscopies and endoscopies that were slated to begin June 1.
Following our rally and significant backlash from the GI community, UHC delayed implementing this policy. Now, UHC has introduced an Advance Notification Program for non-screening and nonemergent colonoscopies and endoscopies.
Learn more about what this means for IBD patients and how we are continuing to fight for access to timely care.
