My name is Evan Kavanagh, and I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease 2.5 years ago at the age of 29. I remember my real
firsthand understanding of Crohn's and IBD starting on a trip to Florida in the spring of 2021, where I spent most of the trip in
my room being sick instead of golfing or swimming in the ocean with my friends and family. I spent the next few months trying to ignore the symptoms and maintain a sense of normalcy in my life. But the pain became too much for me to handle and in
January 2022, after two days of being sick, in pain, and not being able to consume any food or liquid, the combination of
dehydration and exhaustion sent me to the emergency room. As anyone diagnosed with Crohn’s disease will understand, the next few weeks following that ER visit were filled with MRIs, Ultrasounds, Bloodwork, and practically every medical test in the book to find out what was causing my discomfort, ultimately leading to a diagnosis of Terminal Ileitis, a form of Crohn’s disease.
