Precision Medicine in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases

Last month, Andres Hurtado-Lorenzo, Ph.D. Senior Director of Translational Research for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, had an opportunity to present “Towards Precision Medicine in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases” at the 5th Precision Medicine and Biomarkers Leaders Summit in Munich.  His presentation provided a framework that gave the audience a general background about Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) and then discussed improvements in precision medicine, including the use of biomarkers when forecasting the development of the disease, and subsequently examined adversities among the progress of this type of medicine with the information that is gathered.  Andres’ presentation also provided insight into IBD Plexus, the Foundation’s multifaceted system that encourages partnerships and collaboration between IBD stakeholders.
