Resources for Professionals
This resource is intended for professionals to help determine potential clinical trial enrollment.
Previous research has found that various features of clinical trials may deter or motivate patients from enrolling in clinical trials (e.g. time requirements, monetary compensation, potential side effects, etc.). The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, working with RTI International (an independent research organization), has developed a webtool to help researchers predict how clinical trial recruitment rates might be affected by a subset of these clinical trial features that were identified by patients as important through focus groups and large surveys.
To use this tool, simply answer several questions about the features of your trial. The answers you provide will be used to predict the percentage of patients that would choose to join the trial if offered. This prediction is based on a statistical model of patient behavior that was estimated using data collected from a conjoint survey of over 1,500 respondents—949 adult patients with inflammatory bowel disease and 572 caregivers of pediatric patients with inflammatory bowel disease that never participated in a clinical trial.
This webtool was made possible through volunteer donations as well as support from AbbVie, Inc. and Eli Lilly and Company.
