Adherence
Taking medication(s) as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
Aminosalicylates
Medications that contain 5-aminosalicylic acid and help reduce inflammation in the lining of the intestine.
Antibiotics
Medications that treat infections and slow down the growth of bacteria.
Biologic therapies
Medications made from antibodies of living organisms and/or grown in a laboratory that help to suppress inflammation.
Biosimilar therapies
Medications that are designed to be near-identical copies of FDA-approved biologic therapies.
Corticosteroids
Medications that decrease swelling and inflammation by suppressing the immune system. These are used as short-term medication.
Efficacy
The ability to produce a desired result or effect.
Enema
A procedure in which liquid or gas is injected into the rectum, typically to empty the bowels. It may also be used to deliver medication.
Enteral Nutrition
A nutrient-rich, liquid formula that is taken by mouth or through a feeding tube that goes into the stomach or small intestine.

Medications that change the way the immune system works.
