Your generous tax-deductible gift will fund vital research to work toward a cure for inflammatory bowel disease, and it will help sustain support programs for people living with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.

General Donation Questions

I would like to mail in a donation, where can I send it?

Can I get a copy of your W-9 Form or your 501(c)(3) letter?

The Foundation is a recognized 501(c)(3) organization. You can download a copy of our IRS designation letter as well as our W9 form.

 

What is your tax ID or EIN?

Our tax ID number or EIN is 13-6193105.

 

What percentage of donations is used for program services?

Of every dollar donated to the Foundation, more than $0.80 is used for our mission-critical research, education, and patient support programs.

 

The Foundation consistently meets standards established by the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance as well as other charity watchdog organizations. We’ve also received a three-star rating from Charity Navigator.

How can I become a Foundation member?

There are three easy ways to become a member:

  • Sign up online through our secure server. We offer individual memberships for anyone connected to Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as professional memberships for licensed physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Is my Membership fee/donation tax deductible?

All individual memberships are fully tax deductible.

 

Deductibles vary for professional memberships based on IRS regulations due to the benefits associated with the membership.

 

Memorial and Honor Donations

How do I make a donation in memory or honor of a loved one?

There are several ways you can donate in memory or honor of a loved one.

  • Make your donation by phone with MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or American Express (suggested minimum of $25.00). Please call 800-932-2423, option 1. 
  • Set up a personalized tribute page to raise funds and honor your loved one

 

If I make a donation in memory or honor of a loved one, how will they or their family be notified?

We will send a card to your loved one, or their family, notifying them of the donation. If you are mailing a check, please include a note with the name of your honoree, as well as where you would like the card sent.

 

Will the amount be shown on the card if I make a donation in memory or honor of a loved one?

No, we do not disclose the donation amount on the notification that is mailed to the honoree or the family of your loved one.

 

I made a donation using the general donation form online, but meant it to be in memory/honor of someone. How can I make sure they are notified of the donation?

A family member passed away and I would like to request that donations be made to the Foundation in lieu of flowers. How can I be notified of any donations?

You may call our donor services line at 646-943-7521, or send an email to [email protected] to alert us of any potential gifts. We will keep your information on file so that we may send you notification of donations received.

Stock Donations

How can I donate stock to the Foundation?

You can donate appreciated stocks to us by transferring them into our account. Because electronic transfers often arrive with no donor name attached, we ask that when donating stock please contact us at 646-943-7425 with your name and the number and type of shares of your donation.

Third Party Fundraisers

I’d like to create a fundraiser for the Foundation. What are my options?

You can create a personalized fundraising page to mark a birthday, holiday, special event, or to honor a loved one. Tell your story and why you're helping to find cures. Then, ask your friends and family to donate to your page.

 

If you would like to host your own fundraiser, please contact your local chapter for more options.

 

Matching Gifts

How can I get my company involved in matching donations?

Employer-matching gifts are a great way to increase the impact of a donation. Because companies have different policies and instructions for matching employee gifts, please see your Human Resources Department for details. We can verify receipt of your gift and complete the process.

National Fundraising Events

How can I get more information on participating in or donating to Take Steps, Team Challenge or spin4 crohn’s & colitis?

Donations can be made with a credit card on the participants fundraising webpage. Checks made payable to the foundation should be sent to the fundraising participant.

Your local chapter can provide you with more information on participating in an event and help you set up a personalized fundraising page.

 

How will I receive a tax receipt for my donation in honor of participating in Take Steps, Team Challenge or spin4 crohn’s & colitis?

A receipt will automatically be emailed to the donor for all donations made online to a participant's fundraising website.

 

For offline donations sent directly to the participant, an acknowledgment letter will be mailed to the donor a few weeks after the donation is submitted.
