The National Health Council brings together nearly 200 national health-related organizations and businesses to forge consensus and advance patient-centered health policy. Its membership includes the nation’s leading patient organizations, along with associations and nonprofits representing healthcare providers, researchers, family caregivers, and industry partners across biopharmaceuticals, devices, diagnostics, and payers.

“It’s a privilege to chair the National Health Council as we focus on strengthening the impact and influence of the patient community nationwide,” said Michael Osso, President and CEO of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. “The NHC plays a vital role in making sure that people living with chronic conditions—and their caregivers—have a strong voice in shaping health care access, innovation, and equity.”

Osso’s tenure at the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation began in 2013, when he joined the senior leadership team as Chief Business Development Officer driving significant revenue growth for the organization. He was named President and CEO in 2015 and has since led the Foundation’s efforts to accelerate research, expand patient support, and elevate the visibility of inflammatory bowel disease. He has served on the National Health Council Board of Directors for three years, bringing deep experience in nonprofit leadership to this role.

“Michael Osso is well-suited to lead the National Health Council Board of Directors through what has proven to be a challenging time for the patient community,” said Randall Rutta, Chief Executive Officer of the NHC. “Michael’s commitment to advocacy, affordability, and innovation will help propel the NHC’s efforts to address the priorities and needs of people with chronic conditions and their family caregivers.”
