The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation Appoints New Chair-Elect of the National Scientific Advisory Committee

The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation has appointed Fabio Cominelli, MD, PhD, as Chair-Elect of its National Scientific Advisory Committee (NSAC). Dr. Cominelli, Distinguished University Professor and Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology and Liver Disease at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, brings more than 30 years of expertise in cytokine biology, nutrition, and gut microbiome research, with pioneering work that has advanced the understanding and treatment of IBD. He is also recognized as a renowned clinician, providing exemplary care and advancing best practices in gastroenterology. In addition, he serves as chief scientific officer of the Digestive Health Institute at University Hospitals of Cleveland, holds the Hermann Menges, Jr. Chair in Internal Medicine, and is associate dean for program development.
The NSAC is composed of leading scientists, clinicians, and healthcare professionals who guide the Foundation’s research priorities and help drive innovative approaches to improve patient outcomes. Through collaborative expertise, the committee evaluates scientific opportunities, supports research initiatives, and champions educational programs for both patients and providers.
