Published: November 14, 2016
New York, NY — November 14, 2016— The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, a leading non-profit dedicated to finding cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, today brings supporters the ability to donate with Apple Pay, which is transforming mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way to donate that’s fast and convenient.
Apple Pay assists the Foundation in its effort to consistently maintain a smooth donor experience. With a growing number of supporters accessing the Foundation's website and connecting to the mission on their Apple devices, accepting Apple Pay will ensure their experience is easy as possible.
Donating in apps and on websites accepting Apple Pay is as simple as the touch of a finger with Touch ID, so there’s no need to manually fill out lengthy account forms or repeatedly type in billing information.
“We are excited to be among the first non-profit organizations to offer the ability to donate via Apple Pay,” said Michael Osso, President & CEO of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation. “The Foundation has always been on the forefront of technology to ensure a smooth donor experience. Offering fast and convenient technology that streamlines the giving experience will go a long way with our fundraising efforts, especially during the end-of-year giving season.”
Security and privacy is at the core of Apple Pay. When you use a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device. Each transaction is authorized with a one-time unique dynamic security code.
Apple Pay is easy to set up and users will continue to receive all of the rewards and beneï¬ts offered by credit and debit cards. When making payments for goods, services and donations on the go in apps or Safari, Apple Pay works with iPhone 6 and later, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 3 and later. You can also use Apple Pay in Safari on any Mac introduced in or after 2012 running macOS Sierra and confirm the payment with iPhone 6 or later or Apple Watch.
