Volunteer Week 2021- Meet Dr. Aja McCutchen

Today, we’re highlighting some of our Georgia Support Group facilitators! Dr. Aja McCutchen is a gastroenterologist and support group leader whose volunteer work is driven by improving drug access, providing support programs, and driving research, especially for women and minorities. Dr. McCutchen has worked with the Foundation as a volunteer for two years, and her time with the Georgia Chapter has helped her to better understand the psychosocial impact of IBD and how it affects both her patients, and her ability to care for them as well. As a provider, Dr. McCutchen knows too well the impact of a chronic disease on patients and families, and how to overcome the mental anguish associated with all of it.

Dr. McCutchen believes that a future free from IBD would mean an improved sense of well-being and control from those that are impacted by the diseases.

On a personal note- Dr. McCutchen as shared that her very first concert was Jay-Z, and her bucket list includes an African safari, and she would love to meet President Obama.

You are an amazing volunteer Dr. McCutchen, and we are so grateful for everything you have done for us- together, you are helping us make an impact in Georgia!
