Get Involved

The heart of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is our volunteers. They make a huge impact on every part of the organization, and we are so grateful for their contributions.

Whether it's helping at a local event, participating in one of our fundraising events, or facilitating a local support group, our volunteers are helping us advance our mission of finding cures for IBD and improving the quality of life of patients.

Together, we can make a difference.

Organize a Support Group

Support group provides a space for patients and caregivers to share stories, find answers and connect to those who understand the unique challenges of living with IBD. The New England Chapter is always looking for new leaders to organize a support group in any of the States supported by the New England Chapter.

For more information on how to start a support group contact us at [email protected] or 781 449-0324 Ext. 1.

Intern with the chapter

Every semester, the New England Chapter offers a chance for students to intern with the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation. This immersive and hands-on experience is a great way for students to learn about working with foundations and non-profits like ours.

The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation is unique compared to other organizations due to our multifaceted approach to achieving our mission to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life for children and adults affected by these diseases. This gives opportunities to experience various aspects of our foundation, from grant writing and advocacy to fundraising and event planning. We pride ourselves in being able to customize each internship experience to each interns' preferred field of study and interest.

Help Advance Public Policy

One part of the Foundation's mission is to advance public policies that support IBD patients. The Foundation’s advocacy priorities are developed in collaboration with patients, as well as physicians and advanced practice providers from the Foundation’s National Scientific Advisory Committee. Our 2019 advocacy priorities are to:

  • Increase funding for medical research on IBD.
  • Protect and improve patient access to care

Become a IBD Advocate by joining our Advocacy Network and find out what steps you can take to make a difference.

Contact Vanessa DeMichele New England Chapter Executive Director for more details.

Attend or Participate in a Fundraising Event

One of the ways the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation furthers our mission is by raising funds to support vital research and programs. We host various events throughout the year as a way to support our cause and celebrate our wonderful volunteers.

You can attend events like a Young Professionals Summer Event, Gala for Crohn's and Colitis, the Royal Flush Casino Night where you can support a great cause and have a night of fun with your friends, coworkers or family.

You can also participate in a peer to peer fundraising event such as Take StepsTeam Challenge, or spin4 crohn’s & colitis cures where you can walk, run or cycle at these events while you raise funds to find a cure.

Share Your Story

Your story has the power to touch the lives of patients and their families living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Your story may be what inspires a patient to take that next step in his or her life or empower a patient to make that next difficult decision. Whether you are a patient or an ally, your story will have the chance to be featured on the New England Chapter's social media and/or email channels in our mission to raise awareness. Consider sharing your IBD story with the New England Chapter.
